The cornerstone of success for Emergency Medicine training is obtaining the knowledge, comfort, and expertise to practice in this field. Our residents become proficient in the use of ultrasound, and an ultrasound fellowship is offered at Resurrection Medical Center. All of our rotation sites provide ample opportunity for procedures and resuscitations for residents beginning on day one - there is no graded responsibility in our program.

Francis (“the Fran”) is one of our primary sites, it is a level 1 trauma center and has minimal other residents in the hospital, allowing our residents full responsibility of trauma cases in the ED. Our combined Emergency Department census exceeds 100,000 patient encounters, a high percentage of which are critically ill. This is a major strength of our program - giving our residents exposure to varying clinical sites in the community which allows them real-world EM experience not afforded in larger academic centers. The residents encounter a unique and diverse patient population through the different hospitals in which they rotate. The program meets this mission by providing a dedicated, residency trained and board certified faculty consisting of attendings with diverse interests in all areas of the specialty. Our mission is to train superb physicians who are prepared for the clinical, academic and administrative challenges involved in being an Emergency Medicine physician in the 21st Century. We were established in 1996 and continue to be fully accredited by the ACGME.
